Hello. I’m Willa.
I am a product design leader with over 10 years of experience designing products and managing teams for global brands like Meta (Facebook & Instagram), Twitter, and NBC News. I enjoy supporting designers and product teams in doing their best work, which includes building high quality products, ensuring user and business needs are solved for, and doing so through a collaborative and iterative design process.
Design Experience
Product Design Manager @ NBC News
Manages a team of product designers focused on web products (both desktop and mobile web) for major news brands: NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC, and occasionally Telemundo and Today. The team focuses on high visibility parts of the product like homepage package redesigns, branding updates, advertising implementation, video improvements, and new bets.
Product Design Manager @ Meta
Managed a team of product designers in shipping high quality, user-focused designs across four different product areas: Fundraising, Climate, Civic, and a systems design team. These teams are highly collaborative, focus product work on user need, develop products at a global scale, and design across mobile and web, as well as the Meta product suite (Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp). Focus is on fundraising products below.
Excerpted from source: “People make donations — big and small — every day using our technologies, and they add up to real positive impact. Over $7 billion has been raised across Facebook and Instagram for nonprofits. Over 80% of donations this year were from fundraisers created by people and shared with their friends and family, and is the #1 way that people donate on Facebook. On Facebook, the fundraisers with the most dollars raised in 2022 were related to Ukraine relief, Ramadan and animal protection. On Instagram, the fundraisers with the most donations this year were related to Ukraine relief, gun safety and the floods in Pakistan.”
Some projects my team worked on: Giving Tuesday 2021, Giving Tuesday 2020, Instagram fundraising, fundraising in audio rooms, Australian Wildfires
